It is crucial to select activities that resonate with the group, nurturing a sense of support, growth, and shared experience, as these are fundamental elements of group therapy. You can enhance your skill in customizing activities for different groups and settings with practice and feedback. To treat a person’s problems more effectively, a therapist may choose to work with one or more of these five approaches in therapy sessions.

Use the answer to identify priorities, compassion or a small decision. Switch roles if useful, pause to revise wording and include how the client might respond if the other person reacts unexpectedly. Ask the client to name one person or quality they admire and what this reveals about their values.
